Commodification of a Tragedy

Edition: Original Peice
Materials: Wood, Leather and Acrylic

A social commentary on the commodification of 9/11. The terrorist attack
has been used as a political and commercial impetus. Remnants of the towers
are auctioned on Ebay and crystal replicas and books full of color tragedy
are being sold on TV and to tourists at the gaping hole in downtown Manhattan.
All the while, politicians are using the attack as a means for war. As businesses
scramble to give the consumer a purchasable outlet for their pain, the tragedy
is trivialized to nothing more then dollars and cents.
